Interactive Music Instrument.
We wanted to make a spooky mood on Halloween, So we planned to make a sound that can fill the whole space with a spooky atmosphere so that people can feel a creepy mood with this interesting instrument.
These are our main components
First, we planned to make our instrument with a turntable shape cause we need a spinning module in our system. And once it spins, the proximity sensor detects distance with the small statue on the turntable which was put by people randomly. Then It makes spooky sounds we saved in an mp3 player arudino, and the statues work like ‘notes’ in score.
A. Testing proximity sensor
B. Connecting proximity sensor with mp3 player
C. Testing connection
At the first time, we connected proximity sensor with mp3 player and speaker but its connection was unstable (whenever we click the ‘upload’ button it worked differently). If the proximity sensor worked well, the mp3 player didn’t work, or if both connection worked well, the speaker didn’t make sounds (at the very first time it worked perfectly). So we determined to use the ‘tone’ code in arduino instead of using specific sound in mp3 player’s SD card for stable connection.
WORK PROCESS for Hardware
We made total 3 tracks for layering each different sounds and the statues can be stick to each rings freely. Plus, because the proximity sensor can detect R,G,B colors, we painted top side of the statue with red, green, blue color.
